Freedom Without Compromise: Introducing the New Olmedo HR “Sali e Guida” Solution for Stellantis Vehicles

For people with disabilities, independent driving is about more than adapted driving controls. It’s about being able to get into the vehicle and reach the driver’s seat without relying on someone else’s assistance.

With the new Olmedo HR “Sali e Guida” conversion, this level of independence is now available on Stellantis vehicles for the first time, expanding the mobility solutions available to drivers looking for greater freedom in their everyday journeys.

Developed by Olmedo on Stellantis’ K9 platform — available on the Fiat Doblò, Opel Combo, Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Rifter — the new conversion addresses a very practical need: enabling people with disabilities to access the vehicle, transfer to the driver’s seat and set off completely independently.

Among those who have chosen this Autonomy solution is Francesca Porcellato, one of Italy’s most decorated Paralympic athletes, who understands first-hand the value of independent mobility. Her choice reflects the true purpose behind the project: not simply a technological innovation, but a practical answer to a real everyday need. No assistance. No waiting. No compromises. Just freedom.

The system combines three integrated components. A remotely operated electro-hydraulic platform lift allows users to enter and exit the vehicle independently, lowering to ground level and automatically lifting back into the cabin. An electric rear tailgate opens and closes without manual intervention, working seamlessly alongside the platform lift. Finally, a robotic transfer base enables a smooth and safe transition from wheelchair to driver’s seat.

The system is compatible with all types of wheelchairs, including powered models, and is installed on Olmedo’s HR (High Roof) conversion. The raised-roof configuration provides a more spacious and comfortable interior while maintaining compact exterior dimensions compared with many traditional high-roof solutions.

With the new Olmedo HR “Sali e Guida”, Autonomy further strengthens its commitment to making mobility more accessible, offering new opportunities for people who want to travel with greater independence and confidence.
