Autonomy on the road with the Giro d'Italia Handbike

For more than five years, Autonomy has supported the Giro d'Italia Handbike, one of the most important events dedicated to Paralympic cycling, helping promote sport, inclusion and participation. A circuit that crosses several Italian cities and that in 2026, with its 16th edition, aims to strengthen its international dimension.

There are sporting events that tell the story of a race. The Giro d’Italia Handbike tells much more: determination, technology, autonomy and the desire to keep going further.

For years, Autonomy has stood alongside this event, a benchmark for European paracycling, supporting a circuit that crosses several Italian cities and features athletes from all over the world. A journey made up of stages, challenges and finish lines, but above all, personal stories that show how sport can overcome every barrier.

Today, the Giro Handbike is one of the most important competitions in the Paralympic calendar, with races included in the international UCI circuit and the counting toward the Paralympics rankings. It is an event that grows year after year, involving more and more athletes, territories and audiences, and bringing to the cities that host it a strong message of inclusion, participation and respect. It is also a concrete commitment that reflects our mission: to guarantee freedom of movement and access to public space for all people, without exception.

Autonomy’s presence is also linked to the Giro Handbike’s Pink Jersey, a symbol of sporting excellence, embodying passion, sacrifice and team spirit. Values that reflect the idea of autonomy as the possibility to choose one’s own path and see it through to the end.

Supporting the Giro d’Italia Handbike means believing in a sport that is not limited to competition, but becomes an example, an inspiration and an opportunity for change. Because every kilometer traveled is also a step forward toward more accessible and inclusive mobility.
