[00:00–00:10]

[Arianna Talamona and Vanni Oddera travel in a DS Automobiles car along mountain roads in Alagna Valsesia, in the Monterosa area. The landscape is snowy.]

[00:11]

Vanni: Arianna, what causes your disability?

[00:13]

Arianna: It’s a rare neurological condition, inherited from my mom. I’ve had it since birth.

[00:18]

Vanni: Tell me one strength and one weakness.

[00:20]

Arianna: On one hand, determination—if I want something, sooner or later I get it. But I’m not very patient, I want things right away.

[00:27]

Vanni: You’re an athlete, a world champion swimmer. What’s your relationship with sport?

[00:32]

Arianna: Love and hate. Most of the time I enjoy it, but having to push yourself in training all the time… sometimes you just don’t feel like it.

[00:39]

Vanni: Does your disability allow you to drive?

[00:41]

Arianna: Yes, and I drive a lot. It gives me a sense of freedom, it lets me go wherever I want.

[00:45]

Vanni: What has competitive swimming taught you?

[00:47]

Arianna: In the water, you always have to face yourself. I wouldn’t be who I am today without swimming.

[00:52]

Vanni: Competing is a constant challenge. How do you experience it?

[00:54]

Arianna: Not always well. I tend to see it as competing against others, when I should understand that the real challenge is mostly with myself.

[00:59]

Vanni: You brought me here. Now are you ready to take the plunge?

[01:03]

Arianna: I am—are you?

[01:04]

Vanni: Yes.

[01:05–01:25]

[Arianna and Vanni are on a chairlift. Then they are secured to a rope and lowered into the void, suspended in the air above the snowy mountain landscape. Finally, the car is seen setting off again.]
